About

An old-school journalist turned digital storyteller, I work in higher education marketing and communication. I managed to turn my longtime passion for hiking into a paid side gig, writing Best Hikes Dallas-Fort Worth for Falcon Guides. I also explore the trials of suburban living as a columnist for 76092 Magazine

My work has been published by Family Fun, 360 West, 360 West Weddings, The Dallas Morning News, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Business Journal, UT Arlington and UT Dallas magazines and many other publications and websites. In addition to my hiking guide, I’m also the author of Family Fun Travel Southwest for Disney Books and Fort Worth: Where the Best Begins for Cherbo Publishing.

A member of the Council for the Support and Advancement of Education (CASE), I’ve have won multiple awards for science, feature and news writing in the annual District IV Accolades competition. I’m active in HighEdWeb, and graduated from the organization’s UX Academy. In 2019, I presented to Lades That UX Fort Worth and volunteered at Big Design Dallas.

I’m currently pursuing a Master of Science in Marketing from The University of Texas at Dallas with a concentration in marketing analytics and data visualization. I have a Master of Arts in liberal studies from Duke University and Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in journalism from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
