NRUF Website

The founders of Texas Instruments helped create The University of Texas at Dallas some 50 years ago to develop home-grown engineers and computer scientists. Over the last five decades, the University has built up an impressive faculty and alumni base — including a Nobel Prize winner — and grown into a thriving research hub. But in one of the nation’s largest metropolitan regions, home to multiple major universities, it’s challenging to get that story out in the media.

I was part of a team that developed a strategy to elevate the UTD brand in local and statewide media related to the University qualifying for the National Research University Fund (NRUF), the only school in North Texas to do so. I curated the content and lead the design for a special webpage highlighting the accomplishment.

As a result of our efforts, the Dallas Morning News ran a front-page story and editorial about the University’s designation and it was also carried on multiple television news broadcasts. On the University website, the NRUF page and a linked new release drew thousands of hits and a related social media post became one of the best-liked of the year.
